Do Yo Want To Be Made Well?

I went to confession after messing up again on Monday (It's a stress thing, I think). The priest looked me in the eyes and reminded me of the story in the Gospel of John where Jesus askes the man who had been afflicted with his illness for 38 years, "Do you want to be made well?"

What a question! It doesn't seem to be worth asking - but Jesus asks it. Then the priest asked me, "Do you want to be made well?"

He told me to meditate on the story. I left the confessional and cried for twenty minutes. Jesus was asking me if I wanted to be healed of whatever drives me to this ugly act - to my pornography. I responded to Jesus, "yes."

I entrust my wellness to the grace of God.

I understand how you are suffering with internet pornography addiction. I think, however, that you are too hard on yourself and that you could do some simple things to find peace.

1. Why should you look away from a beautiful woman? Instead look at her and enjoy the beauty created by God. Tempted by her? So what? Jesus was tempted too.

2. Install Wisechoice.net on your system...then you CAN'T get to porn even if you want it.

3. Realize you're forgiven. Jesus is right there in your sin with you. He loves you no matter what and in your deepest sin he is the most powerful.

4. meditative prayer is great but is unlikely to solve your addiction...it's deeper and i recommend you get some professional help.

5. He loves you.
